Design of Paralympics PEKING 2008

The uniforms of all in the preparations of the games involved people were recently presented in a great ceremony in Beijing. The stuff and volunteers unveiled special outfits, characterized by the design of the “lucky clouds”.

Stuff uniform designThe “lucky clouds” represent the five elements – metal, wood, water, fire and earth – and for that reason they signify a traditional Chinese symbol.
Responsible for this special design are the Cultural Activities Department of BOCOG, Beijing Institute of Clothing Technology, Academy of Arts and Design of Tsinghua University, China Central Academy of Fine Arts and adidas, an official partner of the Beijing 2008 Olympic Games.

Torch and CauldronThe symbol of the “lucky clouds” not only decorates the stuff uniforms, it brightens up the Olympic torch, beyond which represents the shape of a convoluted Chinese paper scroll. Furthermore the gently curved emblem is reproduced on the Olympic cauldron, in which the Olympic Fire will burn during the Olympic and Paralympic Games.

Only 215 days are to go before the Paralympic Fire will be lightened in the great opening ceremony on September, 6.
