Grand Gala welcomes Olympic and Paralympic Year in Beijing
The grand gala in the China Millennium Monument to welcome the New Year 2008 was all about the next Olympic and Paralympic Games in Beijing.
A large crowd of more than 4 000 guests, like members of the organisation committee and some celebrities, was commemorating and struck the Olympic Year Bell at midnight. Chinese people showed their pleasant anticipation of delivering the Olympic and Paralympic Games with proclaiming the slogan “We Are Ready”. Furthermore live video feeds from all involved cities were part of the great ceremony.
Significant milestones of the Olympic and Paralympic Year 2008 are beyond the Olympic Torch relay (starting at 1st of April) and the 27 "Good Luck Beijing" sport events, the cultural square including a culture festival with kick off on June, 23. The opening ceremony of the Olympic Games is scheduled for 8th of August at 8.08 p.m.,the Paralympic Games are set for the time from September, 6 - 17.
