Press Conference: EPC - Headquarters in Vienna

 

During the 7th session of the General Assembly of the European Paralympic Committee/EPC on September 15, 2007, in Heraklion/GRE  Vienna/AUT was elected for the new Headquarters and permanent office of the EPC. Vienna came out on top against powerful and strong candidates like Lausanne/SUI, Rom/ITA and Istanbul /TUR.
On November 9th, 2007 Federal Chancellor and Minister of Sports Dr. Alfred Gusenbauer invited to an international press conference to announce the news. EPC-President Enrique Sánchez-Guijo Acevedo and President of Austrian Paralympic Committee Dr. Peter Wittmann, MP, took the stage with the Federal Chancellor. 

Dr. Gusenbauer stressed the importance of Vienna being a host to international sport organizations and spoke very highly of the work of the Austrian Paralympic Committee to that effect. Dr. Wittmann emphasized the long, successful tradition of the Paralympic movement in Austria and the outstanding achievements and successes of Austrian paralympic athletes. EPC-President Sánchez-Guijo expressed his delight about Vienna being elected and talked about the right step to work on a joint appearance of the European Paralympic movement.
